The CBS Radio Mystery Theater

When I was young, The CBS Radio Mystery Theater was must listen programming for me every evening - literally. I worked at a CBS affiliate (WSOY Radio in Decatur, Illinois) and we carried the show. I grew to love it, and to eagerly anticipate E.G. Marshall's greeting each night: "Come in! Welcome!"
All 1399 episodes are now available on the Web for download or streaming, free of charge, at The CBS Radio Mystery Theater site. Whether or not you're familiar with the show, if you're a fan of old time radio, a fan of mysteries or simply a fan of good drama, you're sure to enjoy these.
Visit the site "for another adventure in the macabre."
Highly recommended...

May You Live To Be 100

It's been one of the pleasures of my life to share these shows with you over the past few years. I'm so grateful to all of you who have listened, and especially to those who have gotten in touch.

Although I had planned to resume this Podcast in the Fall of 2011, I find that I have too many competing priorities. So I've decided to put an end to all of my Podcasting activities, at least for the time being. I will still continue to be active online elsewhere, and may be posting items of interest here from time to time as well. If you're interested in keeping up with my activities, here are some links.

The archives of past shows will remain here on the site for as long as Blogger allows.

Thanks again for listening, and I hope that our paths will cross again.

The Song Is You

Sinatra
December 12, 1915 - May 14, 1998

In observation of this solemn day, I'd like to share a post from two years ago, written for the tenth anniversary of Frank Sinatra's passing. It still represents my sense of things about as well as I could hope to state them.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Sinatra family today.

Anything Goes

The L.A. Times reports on a DVD release of an old Colgate Comedy Hour adaptation of Anything Goes, starring Frank Sinatra and Ethel Merman.

"The new DVD release -- from the Archive of American Television -- features a 1954 televised staging of the musical starring Sinatra, Merman, Bert Lahr and Sheree North. (The musical aired on "The Colgate Comedy Hour" on NBC.) The DVD, which runs only 53 minutes, features a pared-down version of the musical that uses only a selection of the original score, with plot changes."

The DVD ought to hit the shelves next week. The classic Cole Porter musical is also being revived on Broadway next month, starring Sutton Foster, Colin Donnell and Joel Grey.

Sinatra Biopic Project Moving Along

News today that Universal Pictures has named Scott Rudin as their producer on Sinatra, the Martin Scorsese film being made with the blessing of Frank Sinatra Enterprises. Rudin was producer of two Oscar-nominated films this year, True Grit and The Social Network. He's also currently producing The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Tina Sinatra is among the Scorsese movie's other producers.

Always nice to learn of progress on the project.
