Best Wishes For Decoration Day

This weekend our family will visit the resting place of some departed loved ones, and generally try to spend a lot of time outdoors.

We'll be back next week with a fresh episode of The Frank Truth. In the meantime, have a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend, and check out our Podcast from Studio C, where the discussion is about the fine old tradition of the Summer reading list.

Here's the show's website, or you can also download the MP3 file or subscribe to the feed.

From Our $20,000 Mobile Studio!

I recorded this one in the van (on the way to work, and then in the parking lot) during a rainstorm. We've got more than a few words about silence, some session history, family time with Frank, and a montage from a Stranger this week.

Here are shownotes in HTML and OPML.

Paris, eat your heart out!

Softly, As I Leave You

Francis Albert Sinatra passed from this life on the evening of Thursday, May 14th, 1998 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. We remember him always, but especially this weekend. We remember his family in our prayers.

This week's Podcast is 3 minutes and 43 seconds of complete silence (this being the running time of Frank's recording of "I've Got You Under My Skin" as released on "Songs For Swingin' Lovers"). I could think of no more fitting way to mark seven years "without a song."

In our home Saturday evening, we plan to observe the silence and then to listen to some of our favorite Sinatra recordings, or perhaps watch one of his movies.

We are fortunate indeed that he left behind such a marvelous and extensive legacy of stellar performances. Each time that we enjoy his work we celebrate, once again, a fabulous, remarkable life.

High Hopes With Jack

I thought these lyrics and picture might be of interest. This is the version of "High Hopes" which was used in Jack Kennedy's 1960 Presidential Campaign. It's definitely Frank Sinatra singing, though uncredited on the label. Frank's hit version of the song was recorded on May 8th of 1959.

Everyone is voting for Jack.
'Cause he's got what all the rest lack.
Everyone wants to back, Jack.
Jack is on the right track.
'Cause he's got High Hopes!
He's got High Hopes!
1960's the year for his High Hopes!
Come on and vote for Kennedy.
Vote for Kennedy,
and we'll come out on top!
Oops! There goes the opposition
Kerplock!
K-E-Double N-E-D-Y
Jack's the nation's favorite guy.
Everyone wants to back, Jack.
Jack is on the right track.
'Cause he's got High Hopes!
He's got High Hopes!
1960's the year for his High Hopes!
Come on and vote for Kennedy.
Vote for Kennedy.
Keep America strong.
Kennedy, he just keeps rollin' along!

Put Your Dreams Away

The spotlight is on Axel Stordahl for this show. Also, the Bronx is up and the Battery's down -- we're on shore leave for our movie of the week. There's a cool new Marilyn show out, and a new directory has us in a pickle. Oops! There goes another Podcast: KERPLOP!

These are the shownotes in HTML and OPML.
